Re: D3.5?

Post by WIITA »

The D3.5 is illegal in every club that I know and at every race I know. It's an illegal motor. Blame trinity. I sold one on eBay last week for $35. Snowman got $49 for his. I think the issue is that the d3.5 is still regarded faster than any new motor out there and that's why everyone in the country banned it starting this year. I tried discussing this in April but was told from everyone that it's to early to discuss. Now we are down to 6 weeks before we start.

D3.5 has to go. Even if there is a legal motor that is faster, d3.5 still doesn't pass roar specs. I have 2 of them that I can't use this year. But rules are rules.

If the motor is no longer legal we will not allow it in the 17.5 stock class period. If the stadium truck class evolves this year that may be a place for them or the out of hand short coarse h.p. class.

At TcORC we're gonna still let guys run the D3.5's in club races for the 14-15' season. That said, I've bought a Ion5/D4 to run in my 1/12th to keep my car ROAR legal. I want to see how it does against the guys keeping their 3.5's in service.

Ok Going on a little rant/suggestion here.

Before you read this yes, I haven't raced a ton in the last couple years but this basically explains why:

What happened to this "CLUB" being a family club that made their own rules. I know we have not ALWAYS followed what ROAR has put out there, we have made decisions as a club. I get that we need change and the whole banning of the motor is happening for this class, but that basically throws this family out of racing for yet another season (we have almost one in every carpet car). Yes, why haven't we been there? $$$$ It gets voted to change the rules it seems like every season and oh, now it costs another $100 for a motor and now possibly a battery to run a class…….yeah this is no longer family based and ALL inclusive like are bylaws state. It seems like just yesterday the TEKIN was being forced to even compete and then what happened the next year, oh put it on blinky after you spent how much on it, (whatever I could still at least USE it) . Those who used to be advocates for the CLUB are now advocates for what the cities and out of town racers want.

So at least keep in mind those of us who don't have sponsors, and don't have the money to change every season like this. I know I am not the only one annoyed and frankly, kind of pissed off. I get change needs to happen and thats fine but like Tice said it takes 4 cars to "make" a class. Don't want to waste the time for this smaller class race them together and split the classes at the end of the night….its not like the motor is a health hazard……

ok rant over better

Whats the penalty for running a non-approved part? My take remains, Ive run 12th scale 1 night and was 3 laps off the pace(Wiita wasnt there). If I run d3.5 til I get within a lap of the field, whats the hurt? There are plenty of other guys in the same boat speed wise that the motor wont matter. Its not like were running for $$ or trophys on a club night anyways......

Also if as a club we decide to keep the 1s VTA's, to save guys from having to buy new parts, your going to make them buy new 17.5's?

Thanks Britt, you just made the best argument to change VTA to 25.5/2s !

Gary answered your question in an earlier post Nick, it will not be allowed, period. It doesn't get any easier than that.
