Updated VTA Rules

Post by BigRed »

From usvintagetransam.com. I'm assuming we will be following the new rules as Novak is no longer in the picture. Anyone recommend a new 25.5 motor?

I agree. Not a lot of time between the two racing seasons. But we do this every year.

And every year there is some detail like this, that shouldve been decided with a couple months to spare. Is there a reason we cant host this meeting 2 months in advance?

If you would like to help get this setup next year I'm sure it would be appreciated. I know for myself, on-road racing doesn't enter my mind until mid October. No one could predict Novak going belly up. I thought I would post this as the meeting was coming up.

Agreed. At least ROAR opened up the motors up. Shouldn't be hard to get something on time, however it would be nice to know with at least a couple weeks of prep time. Something to bring up for discussion for next year for sure!

If thats what it takes, I'll gladly be the go to there. If its a matter of setting up a date, and an on road itinerary, I will certainly do it. Novak closed in May/June, so its not like it happened last week :) The sad reality of that is pretty much any 25.5 built is better than a novak, add in the rotor being .2mm difference(12.3 legal 12.5 most common avail) who is going to tech that weekly? Can o worms

Just curious what was decided about the VTA class at the meeting last night. Does anyone know when you buy a motor from Motiv or Team scream does its come with a 12.3 or 12.5 rotor?

Any 25.5 with a 12.3mm rotor is the USVTA rule. If you buy any motor you need to specify the rotor, most are built with a 12.3 but its better to specify.

Also wanted to add your car must be FULL TIME 4WD. No one-way's. We will be checking this at motorhead for sure.
