did anyone ever add up how in tripple a mains 3 2's loses to a 1,3,4?

so wouldnt 2+2 be the same as 1+3 then it would go on the third race and a 2 would beat a 4?

I believe this is how it goes but I could be wrong
1st=0 points
2nd= 2 points
3rd= 3 points
lowest points wins tripple a main style with the third being a tie breaker if necessary.
I could be totally off but I believe this is what we did at wow last year.
