I was told that my name was being tossed around here like a dirty pit towel!
For the record, I run my 'modified' shocks at MMR in the "Open Off-Road" Class on Wednesdays and Sundays; any truck, any motor, any battery and any modification.
His only 'Spec Slash' class is on Fridays. I have a "stock-normal" set of shocks if I run the jumps.
The first post clearly states,
"Shock oil may be changed. Pistons and limiting may be changed."
Shock limiters are legal for the Spec Slash class here at LSRCC. I don't get what the problem here is...limit your shocks, drop your truck.
Andrew's pics show my Slash to have MAYBE 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch lowered due to my limiters. If that gives me the winning edge, then put my name on the 'bowling trophy' now.
With regard to my truck handling, I have to "force" it to traction-roll going in to the corners. I have been lobbying other racers who don't run the jumps to consider this 'tuning' option. It's no fun 2 to 3 laps up on the field.
Another tuning option I find successful is pinion size. I make it a point to stay 3 to 4 teeth smaller than most in the class. This gives me blistering torque from apex out of the corners. I can pass other trucks like they're standing still on a corner-out pass. I lose a little on the straight, but we all know and love Andrews 'minimal' straight layouts.
As for Andrew's smack, I
the challenge for him to run side by side with me in the open truck class

On a serious note the missunderstandings have been cleared up. I just wanted to be legal locally so I used anything I found suitable on the traxxas parts tree. There's plenty to use without fallng out of spec.
Just oozing with tallent... Super dialed

Re: Slash Rules
Hey guys,
I have have a couple questions about the Stock Slash Class.
1. Are lipo batteries allowed and what do you recommend for battery and charger?
2. I read that you can run any SC tire you want, can I buy premounted or do I have to run stock slash wheels? (I hate gluing tires.
3. What's the hot tire?
Thanks

Re: Slash Rules
Yes Lipo's are allowed in the Spec Slash class.
It's hard to recommend a specific battery because everyone has a different R/C budget so just get whatever 2s lipo you want.
The Thunder AC6 is a great charger for the money,http://www.nitrorcx.com/thac6smlibac.html
JConcepts Goosebumps on the rear should work just fine, you can use a beadlock or glue-on type of wheel, whatever works best for you.

Re: Slash Rules
Are we basically still bone stock for electrics for the slash's?
Re: Slash Rules
Stock servo, speedo and motor. No change.
Are you gonna race? I hope so, I got mine all ready to go. Ran some laps last Thursday, Slash is still way fun.

Re: Slash Rules
I work later in the morning on Friday so I can make it tonight, probably the only night all summer. Just have to switch the electrics around I hope i have my stock servo lying around.
Re: Slash Rules
I want to put out a reminder about Spec Slash rules. There are more guys running it, which is great, but a number of them are running brushless, and that is not allowed. You have to run a Traxxas XL-5 esc, and a Traxxas Titan 12T motor, no matter what battery you use. If you want to use the brushless system, then run in Open Short Course.
Sometimes slow is fast!
Re: Slash Rules
That's a good point. Please make sure if you're running spec slash to follow the rules. Huge advantage for brushless systems.
