VTA Help

Post by Grumpy »

I am looking to build a Trans Am and need to know where I can get the specs for that class and maybe a few pointers. Can I use my TC3 chassis for starters? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, and hope to be racing with you folks soon.

This is the official rules site, but each club might have variances.

Thanks for the link! It will be a good start anyways. Does the club pretty much follow these rules (specs)? I hope to join up next week when I stop out again.

Well I tried to find our rules in the forum and had no luck. There is a list of certain bodys, rims and tires that you have to run. Otherwise motor is 17.5 or 27t brushed with 3c nimh or 1c lipo. A booster is recommended depending on if your using spektrum or certain esc. I have an extra booster if you need one for $10 or if Justin has any left im sure he will sell you one for the same price. Hopefull someone will chime in on the body/ tire list.

Thanks again for the help. I'll take that booster from ya. I was at the track on the last Sunday with my wife. We were the ones watching and sat over by the pop machine. I will be there next week so look me up. Probably be in the same place. I am not in the club yet but am joining. Hopefully this next week. I heard the bodies are the old classics. Like Mustang, Vette, Cuda, and such. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The original body spec for this class was the HPI 67 Mustang, 70 Cuda, and I think 68 Camaro. I do know there are some other bodies out there that Andrew has allowed and we have not policed it at our club events because there has not been a lot of interest within our group and that is why we only run them on Sundays. The TC3 has worked well for Greg from our club and he may help you out with how he has made his work.

Sounds great Gary, thank you. I am off the old block so love the old classic cars. I will be there Sunday again to watch unless we get snowed in so I will talk with a few that have them there then. Maybe get some pointers so I can get one together by next month.

Is there some mode that would allow me to use my Tekin RS in VTA, that would be easy to tech. Not looking for an advantage, just do not want to buy another speedo

Firmware 212 mode 1. Lights 3 and 5 (I think, two lights either way) should blink. This is why you here it referred to as "blinky" mode.

Exactly!
Tice, try to apply your degree in rocket science.
Oh, you say you don't have a degree in rocket science?, well too bad cause you need one to setup a speedo in your toy car. Welcome to the future of R/C people.

Yea really hard. Hit mOde button until led under letter TP is on then hit set button until only one led is lite on the left side... Wait for reboot of speedo.. 20 seconds or so And you are in blinky.
