My dislikes about the vintage 1/12 class, don't want to have to buy a special battery like a saddle 1s lipo and how do you decide what 1/12 chassis are vintage. The chassis question is the main reason that many of our club members don't want to run a VTA class. If you want to run a vintage class as spec then VTA is the best way to go. Guys from other tracks have them which can add to entries and you would have a car you can run at MMR or TCORC. Also, you don't have to adjust ride ht. in VTA or go thru tires like you would with a 1/12 car. Less work means more fun. The Tamiya Mini Cooper fits the bill as far as Gary's challenge to find a new spec car at a great price. Chassis, body, tires, motor and esc. All for about $118.00, hard to argue the value with this car!

Will this class be exclusive to LSRCC? I only ask because I really want to race cheap this winter but plan on running MMR or any other track Wiita can visit at 5am.

We ran the mini cooper as a spec class years ago at TCHR, had to use silver mabuchi motor, speedo was open but didn't have all the boost options that they do now. We used the M03 chassis set up for rear wheel drive, it was a blast to race.

It would be exclusive to LSRCC like the Spec Truck class. let's not get to ahead of ourselves, this car has not been accepted by the club as the new Spec car, we are trying to put together enough of these to do some demo racing so everyone can get a first hand look at what they are about. The more cars we get the better so don't be afraid to join the Demo Club!

Greg just got off the phone with Gary and he ok'd it if we have enough to run them. (Looks like we are getting closer to 8+ already)

Because its a demo class shock tuning and gear changes will be legal.

We need round lipos to run in this car and I think the group would like to spec one. If anyone has an opinion on this or round lipo recomendations post your ideas.

Missed the meeting didn't realize when it was till yesterday, but mini coppers common are we back in the 80's running tamiya junk whats wrong with the spec class we have, plus we have a slash spec class how many spec classes do we need to have? Like I said I missed the meeting I also noticed stock truck not being listed on the flyer for the fund raiser race does that mean the stock truck class is done I hope not.

The current spec class was already discussed at this summers meeting to find a replacement since you can no longer buy the current chassis. The club had bought a replacement from tower hobbies to look at as its replacement. It was voted no because it was to cheesy. It was voted to leave the class alone for the winter and continue looking for a replacement. The mini coopers will be run as a demo as a possible replacement.

Truck and slash has been removed from the winter classes. It can be run in novice. I did not agree with this and I objected if it helps any. It was voted to be removed. Shawn also was not able to make it to the meeting but I spoke in his behalf. Mabey if enough show up you can run but its up to Gary. I know Shawn will run truck if he gets the chance.

I hope this helps.

The mini cooper is being run all over the country as a spec class and has been for years. The "junk" your talking about is 100% better that the replacement that was introduced at the meeting for the spec truck class. The nice thing about a spec class is that you really don't have to work on it much and it typically can take a beating and not snap every time out. Look at how durable the slash and spec trucks are right now. The current spec class is a very good class but it is nearly impossible to find parts and if someone new were to come in this is a nice 200 dollar class for someone to join and be on the same level as everyone else. Oh and you can and will always be able to find parts for this car. There are clubs all around the nation that are making this successful and you would know this if you showed up to the meeting. please keep an open mind to the discussion at hand. lets not make this another open sc argument that your not going to show up for anyways. The truck class is no longer per the meeting.

Stock truck will be raced on club nights and not raced on Sunday series races, same as last year.
Slash was removed from the Sunday series races because most of the trucks that ran last year came from MMR and they don't run a Spec Slash class anymore.
Shane , not our fault you didn't make the meeting and it wouldn't matter if you were there because you probably wouldn't have paid attention anyway, just like the last meeting.
It was decided at the meeting to start looking for a new car to replace the Spec Truck, the Mini Cooper may or may not be that car, that will be decided later. For now we have a group of racers that are willing to buy them and race them as a demo class for everyone to see if they will work for us. We think they will be a lot of fun.
If you want to complain about the meeting start another thread for that.

Greg I don't know what your problem with me is and why you always have to act like a bi@#h towards me. As for the open sc class I didn't show up for I had a pretty serious back surgery this summer, and as far as you thinking I wasn't paying attention at the last meeting it was because I couldn't hear everything being said, whatever beef you have with me you need to get over it, I was asking about the spec classes, and stating an opinion on Tamiya, and wondering about stock truck because that is a class I was planing on running.
