There would be 7 more Mini Coopers if you Spec Truck drivers would put 'em in the garage and get Coopers!

Well Greg, I see you trying to stir up shi...... again, who's to say you can;t run both classes. Just because you won't run with us thats your problem. Another thing club members pay alot of money to run there classes, then you get some big mouths that wants to switch things around and the poor guy has to hang up racing because he can't afford a new car. Have you been wondering where all the club members are, there fed up with all the changes in the club the arguing at meetings, constant changes in classes, and bye the way this club was to be family oriented sport, when was the last time you seen young kids there with there familys, they don't come because there is to many swear boxes out there, and Greg don't think this is all on you. One big mistake i think we made was taking the slash class away this winter alot of new members were running them, i can't say it would bring in new racers for carpet season i'm not an expert maybe we should leave it up to the guys that have 15 to 20 years in the club they seem to have all the answers. lame

Glad to see someone else feels the sameway I do. Looks like I will be missing more than a couple of races. My friends blood clut is taking longer to dizolve. I will try and make a race when I can.

Take it easy guys. Did you happen to notice the at the end of my post, just trying to have some fun. Did you notice that except for me and Roger going back and forth with each other that this website has pretty much died as of late. Just trying to give people a reason to check in every once in a while and I was trying to keep it lite until you had to be such a downer, pop the balloon, all the air is gone.
As far as the Slash and getting new people to come and race goes, think about it, any new racer that shows up
with a Slash can run in the Novice class. Also, we didn't run a Slash class last year on Thursdays, we mixed them in with the Stock Truck class.
Spec Truck racers gotta lose your tighty whities, your starting to lose the blood flow to your heads, Spec Truck is still running and isn't going away this year or probably next year either. Why would the club stop running a class with good support? Its here for the duration so go easy.
The Mini Cooper class is for club members that want to run an easy class like Spec Truck, it's that simple. All we have to decide is what the final rules will be. That is being worked out now. Spec Truck drivers have to stop looking at Mini's as a threat to Spec Truck, but as a positive for OUR club.

Hello Guys, Ran into Greg at the postoffice no we didn't slug it out, just talked about the direction the club is going in a civil manner. What i need is suggestions from are members on ways to get more members racing on carpet. This is not meant to be a shouting match just looking for some input to make are club better for all of us. If we don't start working together we won't have a club, one more thing members need to start being nicer to are race director i don't see anyone willing to do is job.

Greg, That not helping anyone but you, we need ideas to make a better club put your thinking cap back on. I have one idea lets have a free nite of racing for the slash guys we can post it. See what Gary thinks about it, wish there was a good way to reach out to the summer racers.

Lets face it, not every thursday nights are going to have large numbers. Mainly the fact that people have other activities, or just plain have no intrest in racing on-road, also dropping classes can really hurt the numbers.

Back on topic...

We allowed shocks a few weeks back and both Greg and I have built them and are ready to test them. First thing that has been brought up though is if the club should allow the spring set to go with the shocks. I originally was not fond of this but can see that the stock springs will have to be cut to really make the shocks work... so we either allow hack job springs or let people buy a spring set. After allowing the new shocks it really does only make sense to allow the springs that work with the shocks...

I am not going to run mine on thursday in part because I am concerned that a number of people have not purchased them yet. Hopefully the rest of the coopers go through with this too... the tight racing so far has been the greatest thing about this class.

We dont have enough slashes to even run anyway? Giving them free races in no way helps us?

If a number of racers in the begining of the year went through with the touring car purchases that were being discussed we would have 2 large classes on a thursday night... Two classes with 10 cars or so would be a good turn out I would think? Its unfortunate the numbers are down but it seems that 1/12 scale class on a club level seems to be dying (Sunday numbers are better then last year though) We could blame racers for switching classes but in reality a lack of competitive racing gets rid of alot of the fun... I think thats why we have a resurgance for people wanting spec style racing.

I think it's too early in the season to judge very much. It seems like there is always a lot of hype about new classes like 4WD Mod, slash, World GT and think there was even talk of those little 1/16th scale cars at one time. Anyway, most of these dwindle down as well and some wind up never being ran again. Then there are the classes that come and go in popularity but never seem to bottom completely like SS Truck, Buggy, 1/12th, Sedan and Spec. For this reason and the fact that I don't really like the body style, I'm waiting on on a Cooper until next year to see if it is still competitive and has good numbers. Basically, we should let the season play out a bit before we hit the panic button. I do really hope the class does well, they are fun to watch.
