VTA for this up coming season

Post by WIITA »

Hey there guys. I just wanted to throw this out there for the upcoming on-road season now so everyone can get on the same page. I think we have to make a decision one way or the other. Now that the D3.5 has been made illegal, should we allow it in vta this upcoming season? Here are some issues I can think of that may come up either way we go. Please keep an open mind and keep the conversations civil and between the racers that participate in the class. Also, keep in mind, our club tries to follow ROAR rules.

Option 1- we ban the d3.5 like they did at mmr and at ROAR. This way we are all on the same page and there is no unfair advantages when they come and participate with us.

Option 2- we allow it. Again, keep in mind, this might hurt the larger race entries if our club guys are running them and the other guys that travel no longer have the motor because their establishment follows ROAR rules and doesn't allow them.

Option 3. We switch to USVTA national rules. Everyone buys the same Novak motor. If we ban the d3.5, everyone will be forced to buy a new motor anyways so this wouldn't add any cost. This would now be a 2s-25.5 class (which I believe most people already have the 2s) and we would be on the same page as National rules.

There are at least 10 of us who have them, so I vote to keep them. I vote option 2 and if people want a 2s class, USGT should be added to the card as its pretty sweet all the way around.

The way I see it is the club has 2 options not 3. We cannot be the only track in the area that allows the 3.5. Option 1 is we continue to run MMR VTA and the majority of our racers have to replace their motors with a new legal motor. The downside to this is that new faster motors come out on a regular basis and the majority of us will often be looking to upgrade to the newest latest and greatest motor available to us. Option 2 is we finally make the switch to USVTA and those of us that don't have a 25.5 have to buy a new motor. The plus to this option is that after you buy your motor you don't have to upgrade to the newest latest and greatest motor as they become available. The downside is there is no downside because it's a buy one motor and be done scenario. I think everyone that runs VTA at our club already has a 2s lipo so that should not be an issue. It's important to make a decision on this now so racers know what they will need to start racing this fall and can plan ahead.

You're all going to have to buy new motors sooner or later. I wouldn't prolong it anymore. Usgt might be bigger this year anyways. Maybe start focusing on that instead of vta
You have class but I have style. When we get to the track you will know the difference.

I would say personally i would be in favor of 25.5. But would suggest if we do it, lets do it at a club level and find a place that will give us a bulk discount and give everyone a few months to get in on an order. Maybe even buy a couple club motor that would be for sale if someone wanted to race.

I vote 25.5, or a usgt option.

Make it simple switch to 25.5 and be done.

I would like to see us go to 25.5/2s. I have to buy a motor no matter what option is chosen, and i already have 2s packs.

My thoughts are the 25.5 looks like the best option. Keep the price down and try to even out the class. Get rid of the "hot motor"class. The rules are easy to find online and make more sense.

I'm looking at running this class next winter, the 25.5 and 2s to me sounds like the right way to go.

I personally only see one race this effects.......if any. motorhead. Club racers already have what they have and I really don't remember a lot of out of towners running our Saturday races. and motorhead already has 2 VTA classes.......So I guess I'm with Nick..run em. Besides it saves $150 I would need for 2s lipo and Novak 25.5
??????, that's next!!

Something to think about would be running d3.5 this year and then phazing them out after.

If we stick with MMR rules, i have to buy a motor and battery for both Zet and I, and that will not happen. If we go with 25.5/2s, i just need motors, that i will do. That being said, i think most guys are in Tices situation.
