VTA for this up coming season

Like Greg said. I only have to buy 25.5 motors if we go that route. Alot cheaper than buying 17.5 motors and good 1s packs. We do need to do what is best for the majority of the club, not just a few.

There are 20+ Vta's that currently fit the rules locally. Find me more than that, that have 2s gear waiting and plan to race this class and I'll drop my argument right now. Period.

The club follows roar rules and they outlawed the d3.5. That's the issue. Just my opinion.

Actually we use them as a guideline and not the Bible. And as far as I know we can run the d3.5 motors this summer.

I suggest our club runs a nationally recognized class under the same rules most tracks use, which happen to be the same rules we have used in this class for the last 3 years.
You suggest we keep running a one-off class only run by 2 tracks in the U.S.,ours and MMR, and that we then allow an illegal motor at our track. As a track that regularly invites and hopes to attract out of town racers to our events I would think you would be able to recognize how unwise this would be. We may as we'll just lock the doors and put a sign up saying "Locals only".
Let's try to look at what is best for the club as a whole, not the 4 or 5 people that don't want to change for their own personal reasons.

Ok this might get long winded so hang with me. We currently have a class, VTA that meets no ROAR rules, that you wanna replace with another class lets call VTA2. This class loosely follows USVTA. Speedos and Batteries come out of off road stuff, and you have everyone buy a 25.5. This class also doesn't meet ROAR rules. And you want this new VTA2 class to be available for out of towner's to come and compete, and be in reasonable competition with our cars that don't fit rules that are out there. How is this any different than our 1s class? The way I read this is simple, the VTA2 class your proposing already has a name. USGT. This class allows the use of any 2s speedo, any 2s battery, any touring car, any 21.5 motor. This sounds like the class you want. Loose rules, usage of already used 2s equipment, and buying 1 motor. Everyone thinks Im upset about a potential rule change here based on my posts, Im not at all, Ill build a World GT car with my 1s stuff, its not that big of a deal. Im just adding the insight that seems to be missing in the other posts, and your proposed class is exactly what you claim our track cannot have. I'll call it an "Island" class, one that doesnt meet anyone else's rule package. Why create another one, Everyone that currently has the 1s package vta runs it as norm, everyone that wants a 2s class runs USGT. Does this make it clearer?

I am not arguing a point, i am just saying that i will not buy what we need to be competitive in VTA with MMR rules, but i would buy 25.5 motors. I personally do not care what the club does because i know what i am doing. So Nick, settle down.

I know this is about VTA but I was wondering if the D3.5 will allowed in 1/12 next winter. As far as VTA I agree with Tice if people want 25.5 that's fine they can all qualify together just run seperate mains. If there's a lot of cars you would have an A main and a B main anyways. So instead you would just have 2 A mains if the class is spilt. Andrew basically screwed up the class for the upcoming year by saying the d3.5 isn't allowed. He made up the rest of the rules so why not leave the D3.5 be legal.

The reason the question about switching to a 25.5 based VTA class is because the D3.5 is no longer Roar legal. We knew a year in advance this was going to happen, it's not a suprise to anyone. If we make the D3.5 illegal at our track,and we should, the question is do we change to a 25.5 based VTA class. We all are aware that in stock 17.5 racing the fast motors change from season to season, it's a fact. I think racers forgot about this because the D3.5 got an extra season on the track and we didn't have to buy new motors last year simple because the D3.5 is the fastest 17.5 available.so the question is do we continue to run a 17.5 based VTA class and chase the fast motor from year to year or do we make the switch to 25.5 and keep running the same motor without having to chase the new fast motor from year to year?

For once i completely agree with menor. Get rid of the motor chasing bs and bring it back to what the class was designed for which is fun.

Either way, my vta will get a 25.5, and if we don't run it i just won't race.

No offence, but there are plenty of people complaining about not wanting to buy 1s speedos and packs on this thread alone. You should know me well enough after this winter, that Im fairly reasonable. That said you want to replace a 1 off class with another 1 off class, and then we will be having this conversation next off season too. Im trying to solve having to buy new items every year. Maybe you like dumping money every year but I personally dont.

Alright, let's settle down.

Basically it boils down to this:

The d3.5 Is now illegal per ROAR. Do we follow suit this winter by banning the d3.5? I'm guessing yes. Our "sister" tracks are doing this, only makes sense to do the same. Now I said banning the d3.5, not getting rid of the 17.5 1s vta class. This is where Menor's statement of chasing the hot motor comes into play. Do you want to buy the fast 17.5 in October then come December one faster comes out, of course all roar legal. Some of you may have a roar legal 17.5 to replace the d3.5, some may not.

So where do go from here? Do we keep the 17.5 1s class and everyone runs a roar legal motor, or do we go to the 25.5 2s class, or run both classes? To my understanding most 17.5 vta's should be able to run the 25.5 class with their current speed controller. Most if not all of us have 2 cell packs. So the only investment would be the motor, which you may have to buy if you want to run 17.5 vta class anyways.

Myself I plan on running 25.5. It would be similar to the slash spec class, the racing should be very close.

One final thought, as John stated let's keep this civil. We're all friends here, settle it on the track

I really don't know what the discussion is about, people running 25.5 really shouldn't worry about what the 17.5 guys run. Your not running it anyway!!! Now if I entertained any thought of running 25.5 I would be the first to say stick with rules for speedo, batteries, and motor for sure and of coarse your chassis rules such as weight, bodies, tires and on and on. But we'll save that discussion for later. And I agree Josh, most of us have 2 cell packs most of which are probably illegal in VTA **** man, look at the Slash guys, they brought in enough guys to run whatever they wanted. So if you really want to conform!!!! go for it. 17.5 guys will start the slash VTA class. (a bunch of outlaws) LOL

So do you guys know how close the 2 versions of vta are? I do. Fast laps are with in a tenth. Another thing, if you can't put an extra one time small cost to put your car up to the rules you need to find a new hobby. Maybe weed and Frisbee golf. Another thing, the d3.5 is over. Running the d3.5 is the same equivalent of banging an ex girlfriend. Sure it's fun and convenient and it might currently be the best thing out there but you need to move on or you'll just continue to hurt yourself and your future.
