Who has any d3.5 anymore. Should have sold them a long time ago.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
It was legal for the electric series Jeff. I ran mine all summer. Good beater motor for the kids.Godzilla wrote:Who has any d3.5 anymore. Should have sold them a long time ago.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
Yes that a good use for the motor.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
I'm not sure if I'll run VTA this year but if we went to 25.5 why would we not stick with the 5000mah max on the battery. Isn't the point of a spec class to keep the racing close. If guys go out and buy 7000mah packs obviously they will have an advantage.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
I would like to see the 5000mah packs stay, but it's not the mah that will make a difference it's the "c" rating of the pack. The only advantage of a higher mah is the possibility of not having to re-charge the pack for a club race . Plus you have to remember the the 25.5 will only draw so much. The 10.5 Orion in my buggy only pulls about 1500mah for a 6 mn race and that's out of a 4100mah pack .
Re: VTA for this up coming season
With more mah don't you retain a higher voltage over the run? My understanding is theres really no way to compare c rating from one manufacturer to another. I think mah is pretty much equal across the board though.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
When I ran vta I just ran a top of the line shorty. It was very punchy and it was legal. There are ways around everything
You have class but I have style. When we get to the track you will know the difference.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
The higher milliamp pack shouldn't be an advantage. If you were pulling 75% out of a 5000mah and I ran a 7000mah then maybe. But if we're only pulling around 1500mah on a 5000mah or 7000mah there should be no advantage.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
So in 1/12 scale if I ran a 5600mah and you ran a 7000mah battery there would be no difference?

Re: VTA for this up coming season
12th scale runs 8 min so yes there would be a difference there. Sinclair is our electronics expert Im sure he'll weigh in at some point.
Re: VTA for this up coming season
If you are required to get to the same weight with both batteries, a 7000 would have the advantage assuming the battery chemistry is the same. More mah just holds voltage longer. We see it go up every year in 1/12 and the average discharge voltage follows.

If you're not charging @ 30 amps or more your mah won't matter. You'll be losing anyways

Re: VTA for this up coming season
That sucks I can only charge at 20 amps.
