Charging at 40 amps
Is charging at 40 amps going to be the new norm for spec classes? I'm just curious as this what I'm hearing. Is there more danger of a fire in doing this?

Please don't believe everything you read from Joe Jr on Facebook.letrbuk wrote:Is charging at 40 amps going to be the new norm for spec classes? I'm just curious as this what I'm hearing. Is there more danger of a fire in doing this?

I don't I just wanted to find the reason behind charging at 40 amps. I know it heats up the battery which lowers the resistance. On most batteries I wouldn't think you would notice much of a gain.

Re: Charging at 40 amps
Wiita said he tested both and noticed no difference. If you get a decent battery to start with I don't expect it's something you would notice. I have my iCharger set at 12 or 14 amps I think and I don't plan to change it, I believe Wiita has his set at 12 or 15.letrbuk wrote:I don't I just wanted to find the reason behind charging at 40 amps. Car setup, tire prep, and improving corner speed should be at the forefront rather than charging capabilities. If your 3 laps off the pace, a 40A charge isnt going to fix that.

You are correct.NickLavato wrote:Car setup, tire prep, and improving corner speed should be at the forefront rather than charging capabilities. If your 3 laps off the pace, a 40A charge isnt going to fix that.
Re: Charging at 40 amps
No advantage charging at 40amps. Trust me, I've been here before. Arguably the best pan car driver in the country (cyrul) still has lrp touch chargers and charges at 12amps (about 1.5c). IMO there is no time made up on the track with a 40a charge. There may be few tenths in setup and tires.... Remember 4.20v is 4.20v no matter how you get there. Just my opinion.
