Thursday night racing

Post by letrbuk »

I just wanted to see what other people's thoughts were about Thursday night racing. I would like to see a limited number of classes run so that racing doesn't go so late. Here are my thoughts.
Novice
Slash?
Spec truck
VTA
1/12 stock
WGT
I think that's a good amount of classes and of course other classes could be run at the Saturday races.

Getting home before 1am sounds good to me.

Not sure there will be a slash on-road class this year as a bunch of us have gotten cars. WGT needs on the list, if there is only a couple they usually dont run anyways.

If we don't have slash though I'm sure there will be guys that want stock truck. It would be nice to get down to a core bunch of classes for Thursday night.

Getting done late is not a product of too many classes, it is a product of us not being diligent enough with our program. I think this is something we can fix, and hopefully from week 1 going forward this winter we do a better job of being on time.

Here is a little time breakdown, and I'm assuming we start at 6:30 just for accuracy sake. This also assumes 6minute heats, do we only run 5 onroad, I honestly don't remember?

6:30 - Novice start
6:39 - VTA start
6:48 - Truck start
6:57 - Spec Truck start
7:06 - WGT start
7:15 - 12th scale start
7:28 - 12th scale end.

This hypothetical round just took 58minutes and it included 3 minutes between each heat. Also, I think 6 classes is fairly accurate, if there were more then one heat of something you would add 9minutes to the round. That being said, let's plan for a 5minute break between rounds and a 10minute break before the mains. Based on this we would start round 2 at about 7:33 and it would end at roughly 8:30, round 3 would then start at 8:40 and end at 9:38.

Not saying we can or will adhere to a schedule such as this perfectly but it gives a good example of the fact that we very well can be done at a reasonable time. Just something to think about as I know a lot of the guys who have a bit of a drive would love to be able to get on the road at a reasonable time.

Well put!! Most of our problems come from not starting on time and poor time management. Lets fix this for Winter 2014/2015.

Another thing to think about class wise. What about offering an "offroad class" instead of a truck or slash specific class. MMR does this is in cities with some success. Any offroad car with a stock motor can run in the class. Maybe we don't need to explore this option because there won't be any slashs but it would be nice for them to have a place to run if needed?

Thoughts?

Not a bad idea, I think we need to see how many guys would be running truck or short course and see what the need might be. I know a few of the guys that ran slash last winter didn't get a car to run so they may want to run them again.
