When can we expect results?
Just wondering if we have any good way to upload results? It seems Jlap hasn't been updated in what I will call a "coons age." It sure would be nice if we had somewhere to see overall results. I know many of our locals would really like this. Being a points racing club some people like to track how they are doing and we all know there are some grudge matches that go back and forth weekly!
If a lot of paying club members would like it I imagine it would be important that we figure out a solution? We are quick to collect money and slow to provide things that would benefit our membership.
Sound off if you would appreciate being able to see your results!

I've always been vocal about how inferior jlap is. Gotta go to live time
You have class but I have style. When we get to the track you will know the difference.

Last time I talked to Gary he said the guy who was in charge of Jlaps died. If they dont have anyone taking over his duties, I agree we need to find a solution. Livetime from the Motorhead and World of Wheels race seemed to work great. Is it an expensive program?

I believe it's between $29.99 and $39.99 based upon some research I just did. Looks like a pretty neat program, if you hook the scoring computer up to the internet it automatically will upload all results.NickLavato wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2017 12:00 pm Last time I talked to Gary he said the guy who was in charge of Jlaps died. It might even be possible to hook up internet via a hotspot between rounds or the mains to upload the heats? This could potentially save time and make people more aware of when they are up. Seems like a good option.
Re: When can we expect results?
Agreed, it would be nice to see results updated. It's always nice to see how the evening went. I would like to see a program in place that will allow for this. Livetime seems like the way to go. I don't have experience with any of the race programs so I don't have a leg to stand on about the functionality of programs. But talking with the guys in our club that do, Livetime is a smooth running and proven race program that supports easy online changes.
Let's make this happen. I'd hate to see us lose an experienced race director over something like this! It would be very difficult to secure another one.
Being that the club has already purchased Jlaps it's always an option to go back to it if they get their issues resolved.

Do the race directors have an idea what programs they want to try out? I am up for voting on allocating funds for them to try several different programs and deciding which they like.... would be nice to hear what some of the other officers think about this idea?

Live time is probably the best option software is free along with all updates and you can try it free for trial period I believe 14 days then it's a monthly subscription and paying once for the entire year is the cheapest per month option it's what is used at all the big events and what I like is that I can get online and look up past practice sessions as well as race results

I know everyone wants to switch and to switch asap. You have to understand we've made an investment into JLaps. To my understanding Gary is giving JLaps an ultimatum to rectify our current issue or refund or money.

Its my understanding, that Livetime can be used on a short term basis. Wouldnt it make more sense to use that until the Jlap thing is sorted out? And if its not, then were that far ahead of the game?

We should be able to get an HTML file from jlaps that we can put on our website.NickLavato wrote:Its my understanding, that Livetime can be used on a short term basis. Wouldnt it make more sense to use that until the Jlap thing is sorted out? And if its not, then were that far ahead of the game?

What if they don't refund money? I know this situation has been ongoing for sometime now. When can we expect an update from Jlaps response to Gary's question? Nick is right. We can run Livetime in the interim while we await a response? This seems reasonable.

Re: When can we expect results?
The "investment" you speak of is also called a sunk cost. Meaning it's over and done with, it's not an ongoing thing we have a continued obligation to.
Even if Jlaps remedies the results issue it seems to me like the company is going down and we are just setting ourselves up for issues in the future.
Based upon what people have said in this thread, and what both our carpet and offroad race director have said, Livetime is the superior program and would make their job easier. We might have "invested" in jlap (again, I disagree with this term) but at what point do we invest in our people and get them what they need/want to be most successful? Chris told multiple people several times last week that some of his issues and delays wouldn't have been there if we were running Livetime. What more do we need to do? At this point the people have spoken it seems like.

Re: When can we expect results?
I would have to agree with Kevin it's not an investment it makes sense to go to live time for several reasons it's a proven platform to run a race program from the racers end to the race director. No purchase of software only the membership to use it so you always have the latest version at no additional cost.
